There are 2 health visitors at my GP practice. One is lovely, the other I found so judgemental. I didn’t warm to her at all. She seemed to be the one I got all the time! I told you, I am never lucky! It came across to me that she had no time to listen to me and had no compassion at all. I took my mum to an appointment with me, and when we came out she said, oh I don’t like her at all! So it wasn’t just me!
We went for the 30 month check up appointment, at which time I was told he should be speaking 50 words. Nope! All we were getting was “here” and “there” which weren’t even on the list of words the health visitor said he should be saying!
A referral was sent to Speech & Language.
The 30 month check had only been recently introduced, so we were advised there was a waiting list for S&L – that means lots of kids are not saying 50 words. That made me feel better. Again, never for one minute thinking here was any issue, he’s a boy, he’s slower than girls!
A referral was also sent to Social Development. I didn’t think about it at the time, but looking back, this one confuses me as to why this was sent. Maybe it comes as a double referral automatically with S&L?? But he done the wee task the health visitor asked him, to fit shapes into a puzzle, so i’m not sure why this referral happened, but we went with the flow.
On we went with our lives until we got an appointment a year later to go and see a paediatrician.
