The paediatrician asked us at the assessment result appointment if we wanted referred to the Carers Centre as they can give us alot of advice. Of course we said yes.
It took a while to hear from them, but we needed the time to come to terms with the diagnosis so we were happy to be on our own for a few months to get our heads round it all.
We received the diagnosis at the end of October, and it wasn’t until the following January that we got a phone call to meet our allocated social worker.
She told us what was available financially for our son, but more importantly for us, told us of courses we could attend and a support group that they run once a month.
